At Ashby Family LEAD & Engagement Services, we are dedicated to delivering tailored programs and services that address the unique needs of our clients. By promoting personal enrichment, life skills development, academic exploration, and digital equity, we strive to enhance the quality of life for our clients and advocate for their inclusivity within the wider community.

Programs & Services

The Benefit, Resource, & Connection Hub

The BRCH provides: benefit and resource navigation and connection to programs and services for clients; community-based organizations to address gaps in services; and cash grants & scholarships to clients.

The LEAD Program

The LEAD & Mentorship program, currently supported by the Dan Thompson Memorial Grant, is a powerful initiative aimed at empowering adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Designed to provide essential resources, strengthen community relationships, and help participants achieve personal goals, this program offers two distinct engagement tracks.

Now available- Benefit, Resource & Connection Hub

The Benefit, Resource & Connection Hub (BRCH) assists clients to address their basic needs by connecting them to local community-based programs, resources, and supports. The BRCH offers limited grants for acute emergencies and scholarships for those that lack affordability to participate in personal enrichment activities that promote inclusive and safe engagement in the community.

Meet Our Founders

Michael Cruse, MS

Executive Director

Serving as the CEO of AFCS, Michael Cruse brings over two and a half decades of experience in supporting Individuals with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities through case management and direct support. His professional portfolio also includes significant involvement in youth truancy, community re-engagement support for justice-involved individuals, alcohol and drug counseling, special needs counseling, as well as leadership and group facilitation. Michael is highly skilled in mediation and conflict resolution, and community outreach and assessment.

Dr. Michele Cruse holds the position of Chief Administrator at AFCS, where she has dedicated over 18 years to offering resources and support to individuals who are underserved, including those with Intellectual and physical disabilities. Her professional expertise spans across program development, educational administration, instruction, housing, community engagement, and finance.
